In my 40+ years of collecting antique and vintage jewelry, one of my biggest passions has been for vintage seashell necklaces.
Many of the finest seashell necklaces from the 1960-1970 era were made in Japan or the Philippines but very few were ever made in blue.
This 5-strand beauty is made of polished Mother of Pearl shell nuggets, some pearly white and some dyed in Caribbean blue. The necklace has tremendous sparkle as every shell is spaced with several clear glass silver lined seed beads. The shells are also very luminous as they are polished to glossy perfection.
Look at the ends of the strands, where the hook and matching shell extension chain are attached, and you will see very unique end findings. Not metal, but carved shell. Perfectly smashing when worn, the necklace is not heavy to wear. It can be hooked up to 17" or 43 cm long.
If you would like the necklace longer you may add a 4" long custom-made silver metal extension chain below. This will allow the necklace to be hooked up to 21" or 53 cm long.
The entire necklace is in super pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. There are no cracked or missed shells or glass beads. I have owned this necklace since the 1970s and it has never been worn. The hook is signed Japan.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new luxury presentation necklace box.
