This very exquisite swan brooch is a rare big swan designer signed "Reja Sterling" and was made in the 1942-1947 era.
Reja signed jewelry of any kind is very rare to find today, especially their signed sterling jewelry. This swan pin is so rare that I don't not believe it has ever been photographed for any vintage jewelry books, at least not in the 60 or 70 books I own.
This superb old swan is in fine condition for age however much of the gold vermeil on the front of the swan is worn to the sterling silver, commensurate with age. The head and neck still have gold vermeil and the candy stripe base at the bottom has gold vermeil.
The wing has rows of clear rhinestone paves and around the neck is rhinestone crown. The swan also has a tiny red rhinestone eye and a black enamel beak. The swan is weighty and very well crafted, as you would expect from Reja.
It measures 2" tall x 1 5/8" wide or 5 cm x 3.5 cm. The front of swan is in good condition with no scratches, dings, and no missing or cloudy rhinestones. The back has the original fine working sterling silver safety clasp and bar hinge and the Reja Sterling signature. The back still has the majority of the gold vermeil with some scant light scratches. The entire pin is very clean and polished.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
