This very unusual 1940s Renaissance style brooch is a magnificent crest and shield design in a large thickly cast ornate brass setting. This Medieval look is very rare in vintage jewelry and the glass itself is very unusual as it has a beveled rim with incised hash marks at N, S, E, and W.

The crown and shield design is reverse painted glass and sealed in deep red enamel. The crest is royal jewel tones of gold, silver, green, deep blue, and bright red. The crest design is not flat and has great 3D depth of field.

The brooch is very prominent in size and measures 2 1/2" tall x 2 1/4" wide. It is a weighty and well crafted piece. Unsigned, it might have been made by Florenza, Reinad, Reja, or Wiesner. It is assuredly a very unusual old brooch.

The brooch is in very fine condition. The brass has an antiqued finish and is clean with no imperfections like dings or scratches. The glass cab is perfect as well. The crowned shield is in perfect condition and only if you examine the piece very closely can you notice a very small amount of red enamel loss on the back, hardly worth noting. The back has the original fine working safety clasp.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.

You can add a gold brooch slider to convert this pin to a pendant by checking the option box.
