In the 1960s and 1970s, imported black coral and pink coral necklaces like this were sold mostly in Florida in high end gift shops and some coral and shell stores.

The necklaces of exceptional quality, like this one, were very expensive and today, a necklace like this one is rare to find for several reasons.
Most of these necklaces and most were not well cared for or cleaned properly.

This necklace is one I bought in the 1970s in the FL Keys and kept it in a box and it has never been worn. Unlike almost all new necklaces made in this same design, I can also tell you that the pink coral is real pink and black coral is also real black coral, and not dyed sponge coral : the coral is genuine and has great value.

There are three twisted strands of 4 mm round black coral beads.
The pink coral branch beads are about 6-7 mm long.
Overall, the necklace is 30" or 76 cm long and is finished with a fine quality gold insert style clasp.

All of the pink and black coral beads have exceptional glossy luster and the entire necklace is microscopically clean and perfect. All of the beads are original, present, and there are no missing or chipped beads.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.

* You can probably find necklaces similar to this one online; newer ones that are less expensive. Be sure you have the ability to see photos of the beads up close because the quality can be very different and the quality of the coral greatly determines the value of the coral. It is also hard to tell the difference between genuine pink coral and dyed sponge coral without seeing a necklace like this in person. If the necklace has a low price, then it is probably dyed coral.
