This admirable antique French brooch is a style that was made in Mid to Late Victorian era but this particular design with the large Art Nouveau frame is rare to find. The brooch was made during the Art Nouveau and Edwardian eras; a style that was produced from about 1860 to 1930.

The stacked metal medallion is pierced metal work in an architectural motif finished in bright yellow heavy, thick, gold gilt. The center is adorned with a Guilloche cab in light yellow. The rose and leaf design is light pink and light green.

The brooch has impressive weight as the body was cast from solid brass. The brooch is not signed but the type of hinge and the C Clasp closure indicates it was most likely made sometime between 1915 and 1930. This heirloom brooch is medium-large in size at 1 7/8" wide x 1 3/8" tall or 47 mm x 36 mm.

The condition of this brooch is spectacular. There is no loss of gold or gold wear on the front or sides and there are no scratches, dings, or dents. The Guilloche cab is glossy and perfect with no discoloration, chips, or crazing. On the back of the brooch is what appears to be a long, wavy, faint scratch from top to bottom however it is not a scratch. It is in mold line in the brass metal below the gold gilt. The back has some very light wear from gentle handling over the past century.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
