In the early to mid 1940s, Art Deco designs from the 1920-1935 period carried over as exemplified in this rare to find Art Deco gold and silver metal Sailboat brooch.

This design was not mass produced and it is a superb example of old Nautical jewelry. You can clearly see the Art Deco influence in the lines of the sails and the waves under the hull.

The brooch is made of light weight metal, thickly gold plated; the same type of quality gold plating that was often used by designers like Reinad, Sandor, and old Coro.

One half of the spinnaker and accents on the waves are old machine riveted stainless steel metal; riveted with recessed facets to lend the look of inverted Marcasites.

This brooch is not signed and in my 40 years of collecting jewelry I have acquired several brooches made in this fashion, and none have ever been signed.

The brooch is a large presentation piece at 2 1/2" tall x 3" wide or 64 mm x 75 mm.

The entire brooch is in spectacular condition for age with no imperfections or flaws. There is no loss of gold or silver metal and the entire brooch is microscopically clean and bright. If you inspect the billowed gold surfaces with a loupe, only some very tiny, fine, and scant microscopic scratches from gentle handling can be detected.

The back a wonderful aged metal patina and the original fine working safety clasp is in place.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
