I truly love old hand made gingerbread pins, not just because they are adorable - but because no one takes the time to make them anymore. This gingerbread man was made in the 1960s and is a thick wood cut out, stained brown, then hand painted with gingerbread trim.
I like the artists rendition with the long bangs on the forehead, the sad eyes, and the squiggly half frowning - half smiling face. The buttons are old metal snaps, like the kind we used to sew on clothes into the 1960s. The bow is an old piece of plaid black and green cotton material.
The pin is medium to large in size at 2 1/2" long x 2 1/8" wide. The wood is light weight and is 1/4" thick. The pin has the original fine working safety clasp and is not signed. The whole pin is very clean with only gentle signs of light wear. Gingerbread men are perfectly charming for anyone of any age to wear !
