These seashell and glass bead earrings are very rare!
The earrings were made in the 1950's and were made in Japan. Japan made very few earrings in this style as they were very labor intensive. The dangles are composed of Mother of Pearl shell in both pearl and purple. The purple shell is very rare to see. The red tubes between the shells are glass beads, not plastic.
The earrings are about 2 1/8 " long by 1 1/2" wide. Look at the back of the earrings and you will see a very unusual type of earring mounts. The silver metal is not shaped like other earrings of this design from West Germany for example. The silver metal clips are signed Japan.
The combination of purple, red, and pearl is a unique color scheme. The pair is in excellent clean condition with no wear. All of the shells are shiny and clean. I see a couple of the strands that are not complete that probably have some missing beads but it is very hard to notice as the large clusters are very tight and thick.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
