Made in the 1955-1965 era, this is a spectacular pearl and crystal necklace in dreamy shades of ice blues! 

Over the past 40+ years, one of the aspects I look for in vintage necklaces outside of overall great quality are vintage shimmering pearl handmade paper mache beads that simulate pearls. They are very hard to find.  There are many different sizes of handmade paper mache beads in light silver blue all flanked with silver filigree flower bell caps.

The necklace is loaded with clear iridescent Austrian barrel crystals and silver foil lined glass seed beads. There are also large ice white/pale light blue pearl beads and turquoise blue glass or acrylic beads.  They could be solid acrylic or hollow glass, but they are not light weight plastic. They look and feel like glass.

Most of the focal beads on this necklace are rather large but the necklace is not heavy to wear. The larger beads range in size from 10 mm to 22 mm.  Finished with ornate silver rhodium leaf style findings at the ends, the necklace has the original matching bead extension chain and can be hooked up to 17 1/2" to 20" long or 44 cm to 51 cm. 

The entire necklace is in spectacular pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. All of the beads and crystals are perfect with no chips or scratches. A few of the ice blue pearls have tiny hints of wear. This necklace was made in Japan and the quality is superb. The necklace is signed Japan on the hook.
