This is an old-fashioned mum flower brooch. It was made in the 1950s and it is enamel over copper metal. Most old enamel flower pins are not usually made of copper. 

The slender curved petals are stacked and layered in a complicated, life like motif. The color of this mum is also very unusual. It is goldenrod yellow, or Oriental yellow. This a medium shade of yellow that appears to glow as it has a touch of light green. 

If you look at the close up photos you can also see the glaze is a crackle glaze with very tiny brown spider web veins. This was an intentional effect and is not crazing from age. The tips of the petals are finished with solid yellow enamel. 

The flower is not super large but it is medium large in size at 2 1/8" or 5.6 cm wide. The entire flower is in excellent clean condition and there is no missing, chipped, or peeled enamel on the front. On the back, around the flat disk at the center, there is some light enamel wear and the copper below can clearly be seen. The pin is not signed but it was most likely made in West Germany. The back has the original fine working bar hinge and safety clasp.
