Metal mesh jewelry from the 1950s is a type of vintage jewelry that is very hard to find today. It was not widely made by many US jewelry designers, yet the designs were very popular in necklaces, earrings, pins, and bracelets. It was a popular style of intricate craftsmanship that has been around for hundreds of years that began in Europe in the early 1800s. Women who admired these designs wore them as everyday jewelry and hence, alot of antique and vintage metal mesh jewelry found today is extremely worn and tattered. 

Metal mesh jewelry is not simply braided metal. Look closely and you'll see that each strand is composed of dozens of individual thin strands of gold wire, shaped into a flat band. 

This big, lovely bow is a great every day or holiday accessory that has been well cared for and is in exceptional condition. The bow is made of soft satin-like braided gold mesh metal. The dark yellow gold color with blond highlights is very unusual. 

The brooch is a large presentation piece and measures 4" wide x 2" tall. You can get a better indication of size by looking at the picture of the brooch in my hand. The metal is in perfect condition with no wear, no lack of shine, no dirt, dents, fraying or discoloration. The brooch has the original fine working safety clasp in place and is not signed.
