This old flower brooch dates from the 1940s and is signed Sterling on an oval cartouche.
This long stem ribbon like flower is an old-fashioned motif; a design that is not often seen today. At the center of the flower is a large cut glass chaton in bright ruby red. Parts of the brooch were mold made (such as the leaves) but the petals and the stem were hand crafted. At one time, the pin may have been finished in gold vermeil but it is hard to tell.
The brooch is expertly crafted and has nice weight to it at 16 grams. Rather long, the brooch is 3 1/8" long x 1 1/4" wide.
This pin has moderate signs of wear to the sterling and I have left the old patina in place on purpose. The back has the original fine working safety clasp and bar pin and these are sterling too. The red glass chaton is prong set and in great shape with no chips, cracks, or scratches.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
