This rare 1950s Snowflake brooch was undoubtedly made by Schreiner but is not signed. In my 30+ years of collecting vintage designer jewelry, this is only 1 of 2 brooches I have ever seen THIS BIG! 

The brooch is made of silver rhodium metal and the clear crystal rhinestones; most are HUGE! All of the stones are prong set. The larger chatons are set in fancy ribbon style bezels. You can get a better indication of the size by viewing the photo of the brooch in my hand. 

The brooch measures 2 3/8" or 60 mm wide. The largest crystals are 11 mm.  The entire brooch is in pristine clean condition. The silver rhodium is in excellent condition with no signs of wear or loss of rhodium. The table top faceted chatons and the baguettes do not have any facet wear or chips. A couple of the largest stones have tiny light scratches viewable under high magnification. The back of the brooch is very pristine and the original fine working safety clasp is in place.

If I had to give this brooch a rating, with 10 being like new condition, I would give it an 8.5. Im deducting 1 1/2 points because the crystals, which is common with age and the size of the crystals, have some light signs of age. Some very light black flecking on the backs, some cloudiness on the backs, and a few with light yellow tints. This is a very critical description when you hold it up directly to your face or under magnification.  At 12" away, these issues are not noticeable, and the brooch is just one big dazzling snowflake!  The photos were taken to show the actual close up quality and the brooch and it is much more impressive in person. In person, it looks most like the photo of the brooch in my hand.
