From the 1940s, this lovely celluloid flower brooch is an exceptional beauty. It is a very uncommon design and the flowers could be mums, carnations, dahlias, or peonies. The flowers are lavender purple and the stems and leaves are blended semi-translucent green and brown with a clear gloss.

The brooch is not signed but the piece certainly has an Oriental influence. It dates from the 1930-1940 era and was most likely made in Japan. Not only is the design very unusual, but many celluloid flower pins like this are rare to find because they were loved and worn, broken and destroyed. Brooches like this should be treated with care as they are delicate works in celluloid.

The brooch measures 3" long and the large flower is 1 3/8" wide x 3/4" tall.

The pin is in excellent clean condition with a couple of minor imperfections. Two petals on smaller flower were broken off but the spot is very hard to see. I have touched them up with matching lavender paint making them nearly impossible to detect. On the small flower, one of the smallest leaves is also broken off. It is under the flower and hard to see as well. The back has the original fine working safety clasp.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
