This lovely carved Sardonyx shell cameo can be worn as a brooch or a pendant. This is an antique cameo that dates from the 1920-1930 era. 

The Romanesque features of this ladies profile is very admirable and her hair style, with head band, is unique as well. She is also a very uncommon left facing cameo. If you dont know what that means: it is VERY HARD to find old left facing cameos, and they are worth more. 

The cameo is framed in a rose gold rope setting. There is no gold mark that I can find, so I tested the gold and it tests positive 12kt gold. I cannot however tell you if it is solid gold or gold filled. I would assume that it is gold filled.

The cameo is 1 3/8" tall x 1 1/16" wide. It is set in a deep bezel setting, very pronounced, and is 3/8" front to back. You can get a better indication of the size by looking at the photo of the cameo in my hand, or next to the US quarter. The brooch has a custom made swivel bail and can be worn as a pendant.

The 20" gold electroplate diamond cut Figaro style chain is new and it has a gold metal lobster clasp. This is just a bonus for you, as this cameo pin never had a chain ~ I made one for you! The cameo is attached to the chain with a gold metal hook as there is no other way to get a small enough jump ring to pass through the small bail. It could be done, but then you could not easily disconnect the chain from the cameo if you wanted to wear it as a pin. 

The cameo is in magnificent well oiled condition with no imperfections such as fading, chips, cracks, scuffs, or imperfections in the shell. The cameo and the gold are both clean and bright.
