This exceptional Kutani smudge pot vase was made in 1934 and was purchased by a collector I knew at the 1934 worlds fair.
This small hand painted vase is known as a smudge pot vase as it was intended to be used for sage or for burning incense. This vase is a Geisha motif with heavy moriage in yellow and orange and 22kt gold accents.
The vase is 5” tall x 2 ¾” wide. It has been kept in a hutch cabinet and never used for over 40 yrs. The entire vase is in pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. There are no scratches, chips, cracks, worn paint or repairs. The bottom is signed Made in Japan.
