Vintage Emerald Glass Earrings Big Clip Earrings 1940s Jewelry
These vintage 1940s emerald glass earrings are very rare, and they are rather large.
The glass is Bohemian ribbon glass with hints of light green and the glass is reverse carved. The way in which the long ovals were carved is know as a Sapphire star cut. The result looks like a real star gemstone and when light hits the angles, the colors within the glass change.
The earrings are screw backs and the large glass cabs are set in custom made polished brass bezels. These earrings are rather large and measure 1 1/4" long x 3/4" wide or 3.2 cm x 1.8 cm.
The glass is in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. Only under very high magnification can very light signs of gentle handling be detected, hardly worth noting. The brass has a slight patina from age and a few tiny age spots, but it is in excellent condition for age.
Although the earrings are not signed they were custom made and frankly, I have never seen another pair like them, not in my 40 years of collecting antique and vintage jewelry.
