Art Deco Earrings Petite Austrian Crystal Diamonds
In the early 1900's in Europe, jewelry makers went directly into big Rivers, like the Rhein that runs through Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, and the Netherlands, and hand panned the river to collect gem stones. Rhinestones got their name from the Rhein river and the quality of the old rhinestones they found looked very much like real diamonds.
Made in the 1920s Art Deco era, these petite diamond shaped clear rhinestone earrings have superb quality stones. The jewelry makers, particularly in Austria and Germany, cut these stones with very tiny facets to enhance the sparkling brilliance. One knows great old quality rhinestones when they see them because they never change color or lose their brilliance over time.
The earrings are clips and the settings and clips are brass. Notice the back of the earrings, how each rhinestone setting is an individual old fashioned V point or pyramid setting.
Very petite in size, the earrings are 3/4" long x 5/8" wide or 18 mm x 15 mm. The rhinestones are 4.5 mm. Unsigned, the earrings are in spectacular condition with no imperfections or flaws. The earrings are clean and have been very well cared for. All of the rhinestones are original, present, prong set, and in superb clear sparkling condition.
