In the 1980s, large presentation brooches made a big fashion impact with really big animal brooches. Most were rhinestone paved lions, panthers, elephants, and frogs. Vintage giant giraffe brooches such as this one from the 1980s are rather hard to find.

This impressive giraffe is made of polished yellow gold metal with black enamel in the recessed areas. The giraffe also has emerald green rhinestone eyes.

The giraffe is 5 1/8" or 133 mm long x 2" or 50 mm wide at the bottom. The brooch is exceptionally well crafted and it is a very long design that was made to be worn high up on the shoulder on an angle.You can get a good indication of the size by viewing the photo of the giraffe in my hand. The entire brooch is in pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. It has obviously never been worn. There are no scratches, dings, or loss of gold or enamel.The back has the original fine working safety clasp and the brooch is not signed.
