This large satin gold swirl brooch is designer signed Sarah Coventry and was made in the 1965-1975 era. Big eye catching brooches were very popular in the Hippie era but designers only made a few of these types of designs for a very short period of time. They were nor made over and over again from one year to the next. Brooches like this one were typically made for one year and one year only. Production was very limited.
The large brooch has a both swirl and wave shapes. It is domed at the center and the swirls flow up then down as if they are blowing in the wind. The brooch is an openwork design so that the color of the material behind the brooch shows thru. The flat spirals are satin gold metal and the round arms are polished gold metal.
Large in size, the brooch is 2 7/8" or 73 mm wide. The entire brooch is in pristine clean condition with no imperfections or flaws. There is no gold wear or loss of gold. Only the polished bead at the center has some microscopic hints of wear. The back has the original fine working safety clasp and the SARAHCOV cartouche.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation brooch box.
