This unusual necklace is a bold design made of hand made porcelain beads. It dates from the late 1950s or early 1960s. The beads are large squares with rounded corners and are bisque or flesh tone in color. The spacer beads are half rounds. The gold designs are hand painted 22kt gold paint.
The largest square beads are about 3/4" wide. The necklace is a little heavy and the beads are 22" long.
The beads are strung on white leather. Porcelain beads are very hard to make, and you will see what looks like age to these beads as they have Raku look, or crazing from when they were fired. The beads are all in great condition with no chips or cracks or signs of wear. The gold spacer beads show signs of wear just from rubbing on the other larger beads.
Personally, I was not thrilled when this necklace when I first saw it but when I tried it on, it was stupendous! It is so unique and eye catching. It stands out nicely against any darker color. The leather cord is in great shape and will hold the beads strongly.
