This incredible seashell collaboration is an old hand made brooch from the 1950-1960 era. I love the colors of this brooch and strongly admire the rare firework or waterfall design. The brooch could also be called a floral design that resembles a spider lily.
The long purple and white curved petals are carved slivers of cowrie shells. The center is embellished with very tiny dyed clam shells in pale yellow and rose, and a few seed pearls. This is a one-of-a-kind design as the brooch was handmade and not mass produced. In my 40 yrs of collecting authentic vintage sea shell jewelry, I have never seen another one like this.
Medium in size, the brooch is 1 3/4" or 45 mm wide. The entire brooch is in excellent pristine clean condition with no imperfections or flaws. There are no missing, chipped, or damaged shells and all of the pearls are perfect as well. The back has the original fine working safety clasp. The pin is not signed. The craftsmanship is sturdy and all of the shells are tightly adhered. I have treated this with the utmost care for decades, which is the most important factor to protect this piece. It has never been worn and has been stored in an air tight cotton filled box for at least 40 yrs.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation brooch box.
