Typically, vintage seahorse pins were made of plastic, gold metal, or paved with rhinestones. This unusual seahorse is glazed porcelain. It reminds me of days when you used to able to buy old types of glazed ceramics products (things like ships, mermaids, and castles) that you put in your aquarium or fish bowl.
This seahorse pin is a very uncommon find as it was not mass produced. True vintage marine life porcelain jewelry is very rare to find today. The seahorse is glazed with pooling glossy enamels in light green, sage green, and hints of brown.
Petite in size the seahorse is 1 5/8" tall x 7/8" wide or 3.5 cm x 2.3 cm. The pin is in pristine like new condition and is perfectly clean. The glaze is glossy and perfect with no scratches, chips, crazing, or signs of wear. The back of the pin is plain white porcelain and the original fine working safety clasp is in place.
