This is a rather large brooch, typical of many vintage 1940s styles. This loving pewter "Sister Angels" pin is a very rare find. It was most likely made by Silson in the early 1940s and I believe it was only made in only one production.
The sweet cherub faces are deeply molded with short wispy hair and the cherubs are wrapped in their feathered wings. This is a rather large brooch with substantial weight and the mold is very deep. This piece was made so it could be used in several different ways : as a stand alone figurine, as a brooch for a coat or sweater, or as a Christmas tree ornament.
The brooch measures 2 1/2" wide x 2" tall. It is 5/8" deep front to back and is 51 grams of solid pewter. You can get a better indication of size buy looking at my additional photos, including the photo of the brooch in my hand. The brooch is not signed but if you take a look at the back you can see the old mold manner in which it was made, which was common on Silson pewter pins. The brooch is very clean and in excellent condition. It has not been polished and retains the original patina.
