This antique gold painted celluloid peacock is a very large brooch that dates from the 1930s Art Deco period. Old celluloid bird pins like this are special treasures! Finding a pin like this in exceptional condition is rare.
The brooch is painted in dark satin gold. The tips of the wings are air brushed in satin rose. The head and the birds crown are adorned with old rainbow paste rhinestones. The wings are deeply grooved that lend a nice 3D effect to the bird. The long tail feathers curl around a branch with leaves and rhinestone accented flowers.
The brooch is impressive in size at 3 1/4" long x 1 3/4" wide. The back has the original stainless steel bar pin and celluloid C hook. Looking at the back, you can see that the celluloid was clear and that only the front was painted. Excellent condition with exceptionally low wear and a very clean piece with all the original sparkling rhinestones. The brooch is not signed.
A very gorgeous old peacock!
